“Stay away from malicious gossip and fake words" (Qur'an 68;11).
Recently I was asked to recite and give a short speech at an event pertaining to saving the environment. Usually we perceive religious scriptures to only include topics such as “worshipping God,” “abstaining from evil,” “doing good” and so on. However, if the the Qu’ran truly is a solution for everything I knew it must have had some verses relating to the environment. So here’s synopsis of what I presented:
The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.).Muhsin Khan
And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance.Muhsin Khan
In order that you may not transgress (due) balance.
And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient.
Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned (by oppression and evil deeds) so He may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return [to righteousness].
Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.
Man can have nothing except that which he strives for
Allah (swt) also explains that everything that was created and exists has a purpose. He says,
And there is no creature on [or within] the earth or bird that flies with its wings except [that they are] communities like you. We have not neglected in the Register a thing. Then unto their Lord they will be gathered.
